Global warming is false?

Book cover via Amazon Is global warming really happening? is there any proof or scientific evidence? Or is it simply a figment of our imagination?
On the July 10 edition of Fox News Dayside, ABC News John Stossel , the 20/20 co-anchor claimed that global warming is “[p]robably not” a “big problem,” and, in an attack on Al Gore’s movie (An Inconvenient Truth) repeated the - false - claim that there is no scientific consensus on the causes of global warming!
However, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has documented the potential threats to human ecosystems posed by global warming, and a recent National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report confirmed the scientific consensus that “human activities are responsible for much of the recent warming” of the planet.
Although many scientists cannot agreee on the actual physical impact of global warming in terms of exact temperature increases, sea levels etc, almost all agree that our actions, particularly the burning of fossil fuels and exploding population, are definitely going to cause problems - its just difficult to quantify those problems.
The general consensus amonst most western Europeans and Americans is that we should:
Spend Resources to Stop Global Warming, Institute a Carbon Tax or increase the gasoline tax.
That Climate change is a serious problem that should be dealt with now. Implement the Kyoto Protocol and the Greenhouse Gas treaty. Spend resources on pollution control and on achieving clean air and clean water.
It should also be noted that many key figures in the “Global warming is false” camp, tend to have ties to various energy industries in terms of support and funding, therefore their conclusions should be treated with a pinch of salt!
At the end of the day, even if the whole global warming phenomenon is false, is it really going to do us any harm to conserve fuel and energy, try to reduce population growth and be kind to the enviroment? Wherreas on the other hand if it is true (it is!) and we do nothing, how much harm will that do……
