Global warming is false?

Book cover of Book cover via Amazon Is global warming really happening? is there any proof or scientific evidence? Or is it simply a figment of our imagination?

On the July 10 edition of Fox News Dayside, ABC News John Stossel , the 20/20 co-anchor claimed that global warming is “[p]robably not” a “big problem,” and, in an attack on Al Gore’s movie (An Inconvenient Truth) repeated the - false - claim that there is no scientific consensus on the causes of global warming!

However, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has documented the potential threats to human ecosystems posed by global warming, and a recent National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report confirmed the scientific consensus that “human activities are responsible for much of the recent warming” of the planet.

Boilers and kettling - noisy and inefficient boilers

September 20th, 2007 by abaler | No Comments | Filed in Energy Efficiency

Boiler and cylinder (Vaillant)Image via Wikipedia “Kettling” and “knocking” boilers are usually caused by hard water lime-scale and sludge deposit formations on the heat exchanger surface which causes the surface to become too hot, resulting

in localised boiling, irritating noises, low energy efficieny and ultimately, failure of the boiler unit itself. This type of problem affects all types of boiler whether oil-fired, LPG or natural gas.

New filters and showerhead technology to save water

September 20th, 2007 by abaler | No Comments | Filed in Energy Efficiency, Global warming

There are many recommended methods of saving water nowadays, one of the newest and less well known methods is the use of showerheads containing both filters and aeration systems to provide an excellent flow while educing the total amount of water used by as much as 60%.

Down the Drain: Conserving Water (Heinemann Infosearch S.)Nowadays we use around 70% more water than we did 30 years ago and as our standard of living continues to improve, the water usage is expected to increase too. The introduction of water metering ha helped to focus awareness on our water usage, but we still lag behind other countries when it comes to saving water. In a recent report “Water companies are saving no more than a mug of water per customer per year because of their failure to invest in household water efficiency, a report from an influential Labour think tank says. ”

Powerfactor energy savings

Small Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)Image via Wikipedia Powerfactor energy savings - also known as Demand Side Management

Energy consumption was brought into focus for industry when the Climate Change Levy (CCL) was introduced. There is a proven way to save energy costs and reduce this levy that large electricity users may be overlooking. While there are no tax benefits for installing efficient and effective power factor correction measures yet, the Government is to introduce Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA) that enable the full cost of certain energy saving devices, when used in certain applications, to be written down against taxable revenue in the first year (Why power factor correction equipment was not included in the tax allowances introduced along with the Climate Change Levy is a complete mystery!). However the fact remains that by applying powerfactor correction methods, many large electricity consumers can reduce their electrical energy costs significantly.

Solar power cell kit house and home energy

A solar cell made from a monocrystalline silic...Image via Wikipedia Unfortunately, the reality didn’t quite match up with the dream. Solar power cells were ( and still are) expensive to manufacture, and unless you had a lot of panels exposed to a lot of sunlight, solar power systems didn’t produce very much power. However, now that we’re seeing more refinement and advancements in solar power technology, along with growing popularity of renewable energy systems we may be witnessing a rebirth in solar power systems, at least in certain environments.

Solar PV (photovoltaic) uses energy from the sun to create electricity to run appliances and lighting. PV requires only daylight - not direct sunlight - to generate electricity.
